Fitness Survey Shows First Workout Key to Getting in Shape

250,000 Kickstart First Workout Free

New York City, 12/7/07 – GymTicket.com asked over 10,000 people who are thinking about joining a gym why they hadn’t started yet – and nearly two thirds answered that drumming up enough motivation for their first workout is the hardest part to getting back into shape. 19% of people indicated they couldn’t find the time, followed by 10% who said they disliked
exercise too much. 65% of respondents thought the hardest part of getting started, was, well, literally getting started with their first workout.

"The results of this survey indicate the significant role first workout plays in beginning a regular fitness regiment," said Jeff Rutstein, fitness expert and author of Rutstein on Fitness. "After the ice is broken, each workout becomes a little easier – so making that first workout as convenient as possible is key to launching a healthier you."

To help as many people as possible ease into their first workout, GymTicket.com has compiled free passes and virtual tours for over 2,000 top-tiered health fitness clubs across the country. Since its launch in March, the company has given away 250,000
free "ice-breaker" workouts.

"This survey underscores the biggest hurdle to getting fit: your first workout," said Howard Lerman, CEO of GymTicket.com. "We’ve set out to make getting your first workout as easy as possible and have helped plenty of people do so already."
